The Luxe Opinion: “Someday” Won’t Come. Take the Leap.

I remember watching a video of women in their eighties, each holding a whiteboard that revealed their biggest regrets. The messages were hauntingly similar—not seeing the world and not spending their lives with the right person. It made me realize how easily we all fall into the trap of “someday.” Someday I’ll travel. Someday I’ll leave this situation. Someday I’ll go after that dream job. But the truth is, we live as if time is endless when, in reality, every day is borrowed. Don’t be a “someday” person.

For years, I admired people who seemed to be living the dream—traveling the world, savoring life’s beauty, capturing moments that felt cinematic. I’d scroll through their stories and think, wow, what an incredible life. But one day, I asked myself: what’s really stopping me from doing the same? I had a fulfilling career, I was building my life with intention, and I had the time—yet I was still waiting for the perfect moment that never truly comes.

Though I’d been traveling for years, I realized I hadn’t been immersing myself in the experience. Now, I travel differently. I don’t just visit—I live the culture. I talk with locals, learn their traditions, and discover the soul of every destination. I seek out the forgotten places, collect one-of-a-kind pieces that carry stories, and savor food that captures the heart of a region.

Twenty-three countries later, I can say this with certainty: life is far too short for “someday.” Take the trip. Chase the dream. Create the moment. Because tomorrow isn’t promised — and “someday” never comes.
